Stories preserving an era of exploration and mapping in a rapidly changing part of the world.

Today’s exploration stories are about going to the Moon, Mars, or deep space. In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, however, exploration stories were about going to the Arctic and Antarctic—places as remote as space feels to us today. Then as now, the stories were captivating. The purpose of this site is to keep us from losing some of those early tales of adventure.
